Time to Rest...and Strengthen a Friendship

     We have been working so hard lately preparing our land for the house, that sometimes we forget to just sit back and relax for a little bit. But this week, we decided to make an exception.

     We have good friends that live a good two-day's drive away from us.  They were going to be taking a vacation in the Great Smoky Mountains at the end of March, and wanted us to join them.  We only get a chance to see them every 2-3 years, so we decided it would be well worth taking a small break.
     It has been a very relaxing visit so far, and it has only been a couple days.  The last few months have been a very stressful time for our friends, and we are glad that we can provide our friendship (and a few laughs!) to help lighten the load just a little.
     I am so glad that we decided to make our friends a priority.  They needed it,... and we needed it, too.
     Soon, we will be all back to it, and working hard.  But for right now, I wanna stay in the land of magical Smoky Mountain Rainbows just a little longer!!

Always Learning!

     When I started the Fledgling Endeavors blog a few years ago, I chose that name because of all the new endeavors I wanted to experience.  I knew that I was a beginner, a greenhor, a new little fledgling bird trying to fly out of the nest.

     Little did I know, just how many new skills that I would be learning along the way...

     In the last few years, I have learned ~

• to raise rabbits
• to drive a tractor 
• to care for chickens, cows, and horses
• to pull a loaded trailer
• to shoot guns
• use a gas-fueled generator

...and much more!

     And now, with the house being delivered within the next month, I am sure that I will be learning a lot more skills!!  LOL

     We will need to insulate, put in electric system and plumbing. By the time we are finished, I should have a few more home improvement skills under my belt!

     We should always be learning new things! What new skills have your picked up in the last couple of years?

Not much time to write today, but I wanted to show off some of my gorgeous views that I have!

With the rain finally stopping and a beautifully sunny day instead, I managed to get over to the property for a quick picture or two.  This is a shot of where the house will be soon. I am standing in front of where the porch will be.

The bedroom and bathroom will be at the far end, looking off toward the trees. The rest of the house will be an open kitchen/living area.

The structure that you see to the right is a shed that my hubby has been building out of free pallets. He has started covering it with the same wooden siding that is on the house. So,  they will be a matched set!

And this, my friends, is the type of view I will have from my kitchen window in a few months! Beautiful and peaceful!

So, that's it so at this point. Just a little more leveling, some gravel, and then the concrete block base. Delivery of the house, and then the fun begins!

I know...Pretty bare bones, right?! When we get it delivered and put in place, we have some work to do. The hubby will first get busy getting the electric and plumbing put in. Next up, will be putting the walls up for the bathroom and the bedroom. Following up with the insulation will be next in line.

It's House Time!

It is finally time!

We are almost home!

Depending on whether the rain is gone for a while or not, the house is on its way soon! 

Still have some prep work to do, but it is becoming a reality in the very near future!
